As Gainesville
College prepares for the future
as a member institution of The
University System of Georgia,
the Division of Student
Development and Enrollment
Management takes this
opportunity to project its
vision for the future of student
affairs and enrollment
management work at the College.
Through it, the Division affirms
its commitment to the mission of
the College as well as the
document, GAINESVILLE
COLLEGE: A Shared Vision for
the Future.
The mission of
the Division of Student
Development and Enrollment
Management stipulates that its
purpose is to facilitate the
recruitment, enrollment, and
retention of a diverse student
population by providing an
environment conducive to growth
and development. This is
accomplished by establishing and
maintaining collaborative
partnerships with College
faculty and staff and members of
the greater community. These
partnerships will produce
programs and services that,
through the institution’s
liberal arts tradition, educate
the whole student. This work
will be accomplished not apart
from classroom instruction, but
in partnership with it. Our
programs and services will
complement the academic
experience.
As an integral
part of the educational
community, the intellectual
growth and personal development
of the student is the main focus
of the Division. As partners in
this educational community, the
Division of Student Development
and Enrollment Management will
promote educational experiences
that will (a) help students
identify and pursue their
purpose; (b) ensure students’
appreciation for diverse
cultural and global differences;
(c) help students develop
positive relationships through
cultural, social, recreational,
personal, group development, and
leadership opportunities; (d)
enrich students’ personal
understanding; and (e) prepare
students for productive
citizenship.
The Division is
dedicated to helping students
acquire the essential knowledge,
skills, and attitudes necessary
for the attainment of their
educational goals. The Division
provides effective advisement,
counseling, and other support
programs and services for
prospective students, current
students, and alumni. These
programs and services will be
delivered effectively and
efficiently using technology to
prepare students for success in
the present and in the future.
Recognizing that
as the student population
changes over the years, their
needs will as well, the Division
will assess, monitor, and
evaluate those changes so as to
continue to deliver appropriate
programs, services, and
activities utilizing a model of
program and service delivery
that is outcome driven.
Through the
Division’s dedication to student
learning, the student experience
at Gainesville College shall
result in students who have:
-
an
understanding of their own
responsibility for academic,
financial, and personal
matters;
-
the
knowledge, skills, and
beliefs to be citizens who
contribute to the
communities in which they
live and to participate and
lead in efforts to improve
their communities for
themselves and for future
generations;
-
values and
ethical principles that are
consistent with fairness,
justice, and the needs of
the diverse society in which
we live;
-
an
understanding of and
appreciation for the peoples
and cultures of our global
and multicultural society;
-
an
understanding of the concept
of lifelong learning and the
dimensions of wellness; and
-
identified
career goals and an
understanding of career
development as a lifelong
process.
In meeting these
challenges, the Division of
Student Development and
Enrollment Management will
utilize resources efficiently,
effectively, and collaboratively
while exploring all avenues that
will challenge students to
realize their full potential.
