F.A.C.E.

Freedom  Advocacy Character Education

MISSION STATEMENT

Supporting people with various disabilities, as well as educating the campus population and the community about various disabilities and how they affect our world

F.A.C.E. is one of the newest student organization's on campus.  With a currently active membership that will rival the more established club's here at GSC, this group is helping to change the public's view of what is "normal".

Their first event featuring Greg Sealey of The Home Depot was an astounding success!  Mr. Sealey compared success to building a house.  He said that the foundation of that house begins with understanding your true self.  "Accept your reality, but don't dwell on it," he said.  "A long time ago, I accepted the reality of being disabled.  I chose not to let it consume me."  Mr. Sealey's words were empowering to all in attendance.

A heartfelt thank you to all involved in making this event possible.  Eugene Hendrix, "You're the best!".  Gabriel Reyes, "Muchas gracias, amigo!".   Jeanne Nash, The Media Guru, "Thank you!", Student Life staff, "Thanks for all the advice in getting all of this planned!"  GSC staff members, "thank you for supporting us!".

The club recently hosted Jesse Billauer, (a person who has lived with paralysis since a surfing accident), and Full Radius Dance, (a dance group consisting of persons with and without disabilities).

All students are welcome.  So if you are looking for a fulfilling way to connect with a diverse group of students, and encourage acceptance and appreciation of the unique qualities in every person, then this is the organization for you.
