What is RETP?
At its meeting on July 9, 1986, the Board of Regents approved the establishment
of an Engineering Transfer Program. This program is based upon the concept of students
successfully completing two or more years of pre-engineering education at designated
units of the University System and then finishing their engineering degree at the Georgia
Institute of Technology. Based upon the review by the Chancellor's staff
and a technical analysis completed by representatives of Georgia Institute of Technology,
the Chancellor proposed that nine institutions be designated to participate in the program by fall of 1989.
The increasing size and popularity of the program has led to the participation of
additional institutions. As a regional leader in math, science and technology,
Gainesville State College proposes to broaden its horizons and community service by participating in
the RETP program beginning Fall of 1999.
