Gainesville State College Writing Contest

Since 1988 the English Club has sponsored an annual writing contest for Gainesville State College Students. Cash prizes are given in the following categories: short story, informal essay, formal essay, and poetry. Deadline for submission is the last day of fall classes, at noon. Winners are announced at the Lanier Writers' Conference. The first and second place winners in each category are submitted to the Southern Literary Festival Association annual contest.  

Southern Literary Festival Association

The English Department is a member in good standing of the Southern Literary Festival Association, a literary group which has been active for sixty years. Students with an interest in literature and creative writing are urged to participate in the annual Gainesville State College Writing Contest. Winners and other interested are encouraged to attend the annual conference each April. See Dottie Blais for details.
