Ellis Island The Virtual Ellis Island Tour website has a number of different activities. Students can follow the lives of several immigrants as they journey to American and their experiences once they arrive. The site also provides links to sites that explore aspects of immigration, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. The International Channel website is a wonderful resource. The site provides links such as Historical Overview, Ellis Island Today, and The Ellis Island Cookbook. The site also contains pictures of the facilities. The Ellis Island site from the University of California at Riverside has 24 images of Ellis Island. The images include an overview of Ellis Island, immigrants entering Ellis Island and having their baggage checked, and physical examinations of immigrants. The Liberty State Park Ellis Island website provides historical information about Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, and immigration journey. The site also has a photo gallery with numerous pictures. Harlem The Harlem 1900-1940 website is sponsored by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. The site is rich in resources. It has a timeline of events and people, a section on teacher resources, and information about culture, education, and history. The History of Harlem website is sponsored by the Abyssinian Development Corporation whose mission is to improve the quality of life in Harlem. The site provides a brief history of Harlem. The Morgan Library The official site for The Morgan Library provides information about the Library’s collections, public programs, and exhibitions.
