Scholarships
The art faculty at Gainesville State College will
award 8 scholarships this semester based on academic excellence and
artistic achievement. The scholarships are as follows:
The Artistic
Excellence Scholarship is
awarded to six individuals who exhibit strong artistic growth
and potential. Each scholarship is in the amount of $500.
The Bagwell
Art Scholarship is awarded
to a single student exhibiting outstanding artistic abilities and
scholastic performance. This scholarship is in the amount of
$750.
The Mathis Art
Scholarship is awarded to a
single student exhibiting outstanding artistic abilities and
scholastic performance. This scholarship is in the amount of
$750.
The
President’s Award is an
honor granted to a single artwork. Each semester, an exceptional 2-D
work by a GSC student is chosen to be professionally framed and
exhibited in the President’s office conference room. The chosen
artwork will be on loan to the college for one year (pieces can be
up to 36” in any direction and some wall-mountable 3-D works will be
considered).
* Students
awarded scholarships are asked to volunteer community service to the
art department.
