Roy C. Moore Art Gallery

The mission of the Roy C. Moore Art Gallery is to provide an exhibition space for Gainesville State College students, professional artists, and community groups. The main intent of the gallery is to expose students to a variety of artistic media, and to use the space as a resource for art criticism and theory. This gallery enhances the overall cultural experience for the Gainesville State College student, in addition to creating a strong outreach program into the community.

August 23 – September 27.

“Recent Works: Michael Marling de Cuellar and Hank Margeson”
North Georgia College and State University professors Michael Marling de Cuellar and Hank Margeson present their latest mixed-media and photographic works.


October 4 –November 8, 2006 (Opening reception: Thursday, Nov. 4, 11am-4pm)

National Cartoonist Society/S.E. Chapter’s Annual Convention
The exhibit will feature a selection of works from members of the National Cartoonist Society.
In addition to the exhibit, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Mike Luckovich and Schulz Associates' Director,
Paige Braddock will give a lecture in conjunction with the Opening Reception.



An Artistic Discovery: 2007 Congressional Art

November 15 – December 13
(Opening reception Thursday, November 30, 5-7pm)

"An Artistic Discovery:  2007 Congressional Art Competition for the Honorable Nathan Deal's
Georgia 10th District High Schools"
This juried competition is initiated annually by The Honorable Nathan Deal of Georgia’s 10th Congressional District
in the United States House of Representatives. All high school students in the 10th district are invited to participate.
The first prize-winner’s artwork is sent to Washington, DC and exhibited for one year on Capital Hill.

January 10 – February 7

“Place in Space” by Vespucci
A dynamic arts collaborative founded by Cody VanderKaay and Rusty Wallace in 2005. The collaborative installation invites and works with other creatives in music, design, writing and fine arts to celebrate life, curiosity and the bounty of ideas.



From: Dennis Harper: Tempera Paintings
February 14 – March 13
(Opening reception Thursday, February 15, 5-7pm)

“Dennis Harper: Tempera Paintings”
In addition to being Curator of Exhibitions at the Georgia Museum of Art, Mr. Harper continues to paint, chiefly in egg tempera.
His art is found in collections from New York to Tokyo, and has been reproduced or reviewed in American Artist,
Art New England, Art Papers, New York Times, Oxford American, Philadelphia Inquirer, among others.

“Facing Inspiration: Graduating Student Exhibition”
The last exhibit of the academic year will feature works of Gainesville College’s current graduating class of art students. This is an annual event that allows students to showcase their hard work in a professional gallery setting and provides the community with a sneak-peek at these emerging artists.
