According to the Department of Education, you are dependent and must submit your parents' income unless you have met ONE of the following criteria:
- reached the age of 24
- enrolled in a graduate program
- married
- have children who receive more than half of their support from you
- have dependents who live with you and who receive more than half of their support from you
- both of your parents are deceased
- you are (or were until age 18) a ward or dependent of the court
- currently serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces for purposes other than training
- a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces
