The Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prevents college employees from divulging any information not deemed "directory information" to any third party, including parents, unless the student provides written consent in the Registrar's Office.
GSC has designated the following items as "directory information" which can be discussed: student's name, address, phone number, email address, major, enrollment status (full- or part-time), degree, honors and awards, and participation in student activities and organizations.
GSC employees are not allowed to disclose a student's class schedule, grades, academic standing, financial aid award, or any other non-directory information to a third party without the student's written consent.
