The Diane Carpenter Memorial Scholarship
Diane Carpenter was an employee of Gainesville College (GC) from January 1989 until her death on July 16, 2001. Although Diane was diagnosed with cancer, she never let her illness affect her work on campus. She continued her duties as Coordinator of the Advising Center and Director of Disability Services right up until her death and will be remembered for her perseverance and loyalty to GC and the students she advised. Diane served the College and its family in many ways. She was an active member of the Gainesville College Women’s Organization and served as President for two terms.
Diane was a non-traditional student at GC who became a part-time then full-time employee. Upon graduating from Gainesville College, Diane worked full time while she continued with her education, obtaining first a Bachelor’s Degree from North Georgia College and then a Master’s Degree from Brenau University. She was the recipient of the 2000 Eleanor Crawford Award, an award which is given to an outstanding staff member each year.
We honor Diane with this memorial scholarship. Her memory will live on as this fund helps other non-traditional students reach their dream of being a college graduate. To qualify for consideration:
