19, 2007 Meeting of the GSCWO
Seventeen GSCWO members were present at the
meeting. Those present were: Betsy Cantrell, Chaudron Gille, Gail Emmett, Leora Myers, Linnea Haag, Martha
Nesbitt, Mary Lou Frank, Nicole Dowd, Penny Mills, Rebecca Homan, Rynda Ellis, Tashiana Cheeks,
Tricia Bunker, Carla Jennings, Margaret Bailey & Stephanie Austin.
Rynda Ellis greeted the members and announced that
the purpose of the meeting was to remind everyone about the membership drive
& the mission statement of the GSCWO.
Nicole Dowdgave the Treasurer’s report &
announced that there is a balance of $4158.38 in our checking account. Carla Jennings announced that we currently
have 36 members of the GSCWO, 6 from the Oconee campus.
Rynda Ellis reviewed each of the committees for this
year. The following heads of committees
were announced: Chaudron
Gille-Programs/Activities Committee, Leora Myers-Service Project &
Scholarship Committee, & Linnea Haag-Membership
Committee. Debbie Pilgrim & Margaret
Bailey will co-chair the Christmas Luncheon & Auction.
The Diane Carpenter Scholarship given to a
nontraditional student had 18 applications, but only 4 students met the
criteria. Jennifer Waters was awarded the $600 scholarship.
Chaudron Gille handed out the GSCWO tentative
schedule for the 2007-2008 year. There will be no August meeting of the
GSCWO. For September, a trip to Chateau Elan Winery has been planned for Friday, Sept 21st. Chaudron mentioned several possible ideas for
GSCWO including: a hiking trip, the Yellow Daisy Festival, and a Victorian
tea. Several members expressed interest
in the Yellow Daisy Festival & a hiking trip. The hiking trip could take place in the
spring.
The GSCWO will resume meetings in October, with a
plan to meet on the 3rd Thursday of every month.
Two raffle prizes were awarded to Betsy Cantrell
& Mary Lou Frank.
Our next meeting will be the field trip to Chateau Elan on Friday, Sept 21st. Our next business meeting will take place on
Thursday, Oct 18th.
