GSCWO Meeting February 14, 2007
President's Conference Room
The GSCWO held its February 14, 2007 meeting in the
President’s Conference Room with a Potluck Valentine Lunch. Those
present were: Allison Ainsworth, Dean Lieburn, Deb Lilly, Gail Emmett,
Jeanne Nash, Leora Myers, Linnea Haag, Lynda Gastley, Margaret Bailey,
Monika Chytra, Martha Nesbitt, Mary Lou Frank, Nicole Krochak, Pat
Guthrie, Rebecca Homan, Rynda Ellis, Teresa Leckie, Tricia Bunker,
Jennifer Feenstra, Heaseon Whang, and Donna Hooton.
Tricia Bunker extended a warm welcome to the
ladies. Tricia read a thank-you note from a new GSC retiree, Janice
Nylander. Linnea Haag read the January 11, 2007 minutes. Leora Myers
moved that the minutes be accepted and Deb Lilly seconded the motion.
Nicole Krochak reported that there was no change in our checkbook
balance.
Rynda Ellis presented the group with an option of
attending a Dare to Dream conference presented in Atlanta on May 2, 2007
at the Georgia World Congress Center. Due to the cost of attending the
Conference, Allison Ainsworth moved that the GSCWO would help sponsor
our members (cap of $1,000 total) who would like to attend the
Conference but their State Travel Budgets must be maxed out. Leora
Myers seconded the motion. Anyone interested in attending is to email
Rynda by March 1st. Also, a day trip was proposed for our
March meeting. The choices were the Georgia Aquarium or the Kangaroo
Conservation Center in Dawsonville. It was decided that the Kangaroo
Center would be the selection on March 23rd. Those ladies interested in
going are to contact Rynda and give her the reservation money for the
special discount group rate. The Street of Dreams 2007 is a possible
trip for later in the spring. Hand-outs were distributed for all of the
events under discussion.
The Diane Carpenter Scholarship is awarded twice a
year. Leora discussed the guidelines for the scholarship. Those
being: a non-traditional student, a citizen of the United States and of
Georgia, and a need-based letter explaining why the scholarship is
desired.
Other business presented to the ladies was whether
we wanted to re-print our cookbook, Cooking to a Higher Degree.
We would need at least 100 books for an order. Rynda will send out a
notice on the GSC notice board to test the interest in re-printing the
cookbook as well as placing a note in Tower Talk. There is an interest
in having a GSCWO sweater to wear for outings and here on campus.
Tricia will investigate the quality and price.
The door prizes were awarded to Nicole Krochak,
Dean Lieburn, Lynda Gastley, and Jennifer Feenstra. A special thank you
to Allison Ainsworth for giving each lady attending the potluck lunch a
bottle of Mary Kay nail polish.
April 26th will be a Brown Bag meeting
at noon in the Library AV room.
Respectfully submitted:
