Purpose
To present Hispanic students at GSC with opportunities for leadership development, peer interaction, and personal and professional development
Learning Outcomes
- Develop an understanding of themselves as future leaders in their communities
- Communicate with people who are from diverse backgrounds
- Develop leadership skills to assist in future academic and professional endeavors
Participation Requirements
Students are chosen to participate in the program based on three criteria. Students must be
- Of Hispanic heritage
- At a B grade point average or above (3.0/4.0)
- A U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen
- Eligible for federal financial aid (must have completed the FAFSA)
- Enrolled full-time at GSC
Student Committment
Students who would like to participate in the program must be able to complete the following:
- Attend the ODIIR New Student Welcome in August
- Attend three semester meetings with the Coordinator for Hispanic Leadership Development
- Participate in the Leadership Development Series
- Participate in the Latino Student Association (LSA)
- Maintain a 2.5/4.0 grade point average
Student Incentives
Students who are chosen to participate in the program will be given a scholarship in the amount of $1000 ($500/semester). In addition, at the end of the academic year students who successfully complete the program will be presented with a certificate of completion.
