Office for Diversity Initiatives and Intercultural Relations
Mission

The Office for Diversity Initiatives and Intercultural Relations is dedicated to enhancing the College’s climate for acceptance and diversity by providing learning experiences to the GSC community that result in an appreciation for diversity and cross cultural engagement. In addition, the office serves as a resource for underrepresented students to assist them in their transition from high school to college. The office contributes to the mission of the College by providing students opportunities to learn about and discuss various issues around diversity, inclusion, and internationalism to prepare them to function in a global society.  

Purpose

The purpose of the Office for Diversity Initiatives and Intercultural Relations (ODIIR) is to serve ALL students through the development of programs that focus on issues related to social justice and diversity. The office consists of a coordinator for Hispanic Leadership Development, a coordinator for International Student Services, an adminstrative assistant and a director. Programs offered through this office include Diplomats for Diversity (Intergroup Dialogues), the Academic Mentoring Program - AAMI, the Goizueta Leadership Program, Hispanic Legacy Scholars, Social Justice and Diversity Training, Lunch and Learn Lecture Series, New Student Welcome, cultural month programming and more.

ODIIR also offers a variety of scholarships as well as leadership development through the Black Student Association (BSA), the International Student Association (ISA), and the Latino Student Association (LSA). The Multicultural Student Association (MSA) is located on the Oconee campus.
