University of North Georgia (UNG) promotes a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning community.  Through Student Disability Services , UNG works to ensure that the full educational experience is available for students with disabilities through the provision of accessible academic, social, and physical environments.

Student Disability Services coordinates accommodations and functions as a catalyst for promoting disability awareness and advocacy for UNG students, faculty, and staff.  Students with disabilities should contact Student Disability Services as soon as they know they will require accommodations.  For new students, this contact should be made at least one semester in advance of attending classes, whenever possible.

Accommodations are determined individually, based on the current nature of the students disability, supporting documentation, student input, and the specific requirements of the course, program, or activity.  Students should bring current documentation supporting the need for accommodations to the Student Disability Services Office.  If appropriate records are not available, Disability Services staff will discuss resources for obtaining supporting documentation.

Student Disability Services can facilitate communication with faculty and staff about accommodations, and will provide training and consultation as needed.  Disability Services staff is also available to provide pre-admission information, referrals to campus resources, and advisement and registration.
