The Oconee Campus Activities Board provides our campus community with educational, recreational, social, and cultural entertainment and opportunities.  CAB hosts two monthly programs, Breakfast with CAB and Movie Monday, as well as large special events on several occasions throughout the semester.  Our only purpose is to serve the student body by providing a multitude of options for you to get involved with GSC.  Suggestions for programs and improvements are always welcome!  CAB meets every other Monday at 12:00pm (noon) in Room 508.

The Student Ambassadors on the Oconee campus are the first faces potential and new students see. They are involved in giving tours, helping with Open House and SOAR, and answer questions at the info desk. Student Ambassadors get co-curricular  credit, a chance to meet new/current students, fun leadership trips/events, networking, as well as a reference builder and resume booster! Students are welcome to join for the Fall 2008 semester.

Chestatee Review is the creative arts publication published each spring by the English Club. Poems, short stories, plays, interviews, line and charcoal drawings, photographs, and paintings by Gainesville State College students and guest artists will be accepted for consideration during the fall and winter semester. Submit work to the faculty advisor. All written work must be typed. The student editor is chosen by the faculty advisor.

The College Republicans are here on campus to make students aware of today's political issues, encourage civic engagement by participating in the election process at the state and local level, and educate  Oconee students through debate and discussion about the different perspectives on various issues of the times.

Dedicated to eliminating Cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

Seeks to encourage and help develop the writing (poetry, fiction, playwriting, and screenwriting) of its members and to provide an open forum for creative expression and literary career development as well as to promote the craft of writing in the broader Oconee community.

To promote enjoyment of film as an art form; to offer an environment in which film fans and film makers can interact and pursue their interests together.

To allow students to discuss current issues in the health field and perform community service.

The GSC Young Democrats organization mobilizes young people under the age of 36 to participate in the electoral process.  Specifically, we work to elect Democratic candidates, encourage youth involvement in the Democratic Party, support the ideals of the Democratic Party at all levels of government, instill young people with the values for which the Democratic Party stands, and provide young people with the skills and experiences they will need to lead our nation.  Meets every Wednesday at noon in SRC 560.

Habitat for Humanity (Oconee) is chartered by Habitat for Humanity International and works with the Athens Area Habitat affiliate to eliminate poverty housing in our area.  HFH is an ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to the idea that all people should have access to a simple, decent, affordable place to live.  Club activities include construction of houses, fund-raising, educational/awareness programs, and advocacy.  HFH meets every other Wednesday in Rm 530 at 12:00.

The Media Immersion Club provides opportunities for students interested in broadcast journalism to get hands-on experience developing and producing a variety of web-based news programs.  All students are welcome, and no experience is necessary.  Contact the club advisor for information on meeting times.

The mission of the Multicultural Student Association is the encouragement of education on multiculturalism at Gainesville State College- Oconee Campus. This is to lead others to play a part in appreciating differences. The club provides programming, outreach, conferences, and collaboration to the GSC student body aimed at enriching cultural learning. The Multicultural Student Association hopes to show students, faculty, staff, and the community that the words “diversity” and “multicultural” goes beyond race and ethnicity. The Multicultural Student Association incorporates the ideal that all students regardless of gender, ability, social class, and their ethnic, racial, or cultural characteristics should be embraced as one body.

This club was designed to help non-traditional students plan a successful transition to the GSC college environment.  Topics discussed include career networking, getting re-acquainted with college life, campus resources, and connecting with other "more mature" students.  Contact the club advisor for the next meeting date - we'd love to see you there!

Phi Theta Kappa is a prestigious International honor society recognizing academic excellence at two-year colleges.  Our GSC award winning PTK club is the Rho Mu Chapter which was first chartered in 1968.

If you ran track or cross country in high school or just like to run in general, then the Running Club is for you.  It's a great way to meet other Oconee Campus runners and stay in shape.  The club meets once or twice a week to "practice" at area tracks and paths; business meetings are held every other Wednesday.



S.A.V.E. (Shelter Animal Volunteer Efforts)Use SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
SAVE's mission is to organize volunteer groups for the Oconee County and Athens/Clarke County animal control facilities, where hundreds of lonely animals need some love and attention.  All GSC animal lovers are encouraged to walk, play with, and bathe both dogs and cats.  Currently, the club is planning both a holiday fundraiser and a spring supply drive here on campus.  Meetings are held every other Wednesday in room 313 at 12 noon.  Please stop by!  We're just getting started, so new members are always welcome.

Sigma Chi Eta promotes an awareness about the field of communication and recognizes students with honors in communication. The group offers opportunities to improve the communication skills of members and to enhance the communication between faculty and students at GSC.

The purpose of Students for Environmental Awareness is to educate students and citizens about vital environmental issues. We believe that in order for education to be effective it must be followed with action.  SEA meets every 1st and 3rd Monday at noon in room 311.

SIFE is a global non-profit organization active in more than 40 countries. SIFE is funded by financial contributions from corporations, entrepreneurs, foundations, government agencies and individuals. Working in partnership with business and higher education, SIFE establishes student teams on university campuses. These teams are led by faculty advisors and they are challenged to develop community outreach projects that reach SIFE's five educational topics:

Market Economics
Success Skills
Entrepreneurship
Financial Literacy
Business Ethics

SIFE team members leverage their personal educational experiences, the expertise of their faculty advisors, the support of their local business advisory boards, and the resources of their institutions to implement programs that create real economic opportunities for members of their communities.

The Voice is the award-winning student newspaper of GSC Oconee, and we have positions open for writers, editors, photographers, page designers, and web specialists.  All students are welcome to join, and no previous journalism experience is necessary.  Some scholarship funds are available.  We meet every Wednesday from noon-1 p.m. in SRC 501.
