Bachelor of Applied Science with a Major in Technology Management (B.A.S.)

B.A.S. in Technology Management – Admissions Requirements

Students who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Technology Management must meet the following requirements.

  • Complete all GSC general institutional admissions requirements
  • Declare a major in Technology Management
  • Hold an appropriate career associate degree (e.g., A.A.S. or A.A.T.) from an institution regionally accredited to grant associate degrees. Students who hold associate degrees (usually A.A. or A. S.) that are designed to constitute the first two years of a B.A., B.S., B.B.A. or other traditional baccalaureate degrees will not be eligible for admission to the B.A.S. program.   A student who wishes to pursue the B.A.S., but who has not yet completed a career associate degree, must finish the career associate degree at Gainesville State College or another regionally accredited institution before applying for entry to the B.A.S. major.

B.A.S. in Technology Management – Completion Requirements

Students must meet the following requirements to receive the B.A.S. degree in Technology Management.

  • Successfully complete an appropriate career associate degree (e.g., A.A.S. or A.A.T.) from an institution regionally accredited to grant associate degrees.
  • Successfully complete all courses required in the degree program (minimum 120 semester credits), including the lower division associate degree requirements.
  • Successfully complete a minimum of 41 general education credits according to the distribution established by the college (Areas A-E) for its associate of Arts/Science degree programs.
  • Successfully complete at least 39 credits of upper division coursework in the major (3000 and 4000 level courses with the ACCT, CISM, MGNT, BUSA, MKTG, FINC prefix).
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) required for graduation.
  • Grades of “C” or higher required in major courses.
  • Successfully complete the Regents Test.
  • Complete at least 30 semester credit hours of major courses in residency at GSC.
  • Meet all other college graduation policies.

Students who have taken the equivalent Area F course within 5 years and have a grade of C or higher would be allowed to enroll in the Upper Division BAS Core courses or electives without retaking the BAS bridge classes.

Dual credit will not be given unless students have a grade of D or lower or it has been five (5) or more years since completion of the course(s).

These students would still need 39 hours of upper level courses to complete the BAS degree. The 39 hours should be selected from the required Upper Division BAS Core and from the list of approved Upper Level Electives.

Students may take the BAS Bridge classes and Core Area A-E courses concurrently, but not the Upper Division BAS Core or Upper Level BAS electives. Student with Area A-E deficiencies should complete those before enrolling in any Upper Level BAS core or Upper Level BAS elective courses.
