Advising
Upon enrollment in Gainesville State College, students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor during SOAR (for freshman) or Advising Week (for transfers and returning students). Throughout the year, professional academic advisors are available to assist students with general advising questions, program planning, and campus referrals. However, the majority of advising takes place during Advising Week.

Every semester, Gainesville State College campuses devote a specific week to academic advising, which usually falls a week or two prior to pre-registration for spring and fall terms. Prior to Advising Week, students should prepare by looking at the programs of study page, core curriculum requirements and course schedule on the Advising Center site online.
Registration
There are several phases of registration, but it is important for students to register as early as possible throughout their experience at GSC. This includes signing up for the earliest S.O.A.R. Session possible before their first semester, as well as attending Advising Week and Pre-registration every subsequent semester. While you cannot register your student yourself, you can encourage your student to keep track of Advising and Registration dates.
For more Registration information, see the Parents section on the Registrars Office Website.
