International Admissions
General Information

  • International students may enroll in any program of study offered at Gainesville State College. To view a complete listing of programs offered at GSC, please refer to our on-line catalog .

  • Gainesville State College has no residence halls, so international students must make their own arrangements for living accommodations and transportation. Click here for information on housing. Click here for information about the city of Gainesville, Georgia.
  • International students attending Gainesville State College must pay non-resident fees.  F-1 students must also pay for mandatory health insurance and an institutional SEVIS fee each semester of enrollment.  Health insurance is currently $67.00 per month and the SEVIS fee is $100.00 per semester.  Health insurance is paid with tuition and fees at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters.
  • Gainesville State College has three academic terms (fall, spring and summer) called semesters. Students are allowed to enroll full-time in all three terms.  F-1 students must be enrolled in a full-time (12 hours or more) course of study during the fall and spring semesters. Students are not required to be enrolled in classes full-time during the summer unless it is the first term of attendance at GSC.

  • International students DO NOT qualify for financial aid. It is very important for an international students to understand that they are responsible for paying their own tuition, fees, books, and living expenses. Only legal U.S. Permanent Residents and U.S. citizens may apply for financial aid.   • International students may be eligible for an international fee waiver. This waiver enables international students who maintain their immigration status to pay in-state tuition instead of out-of-state tuition. In order to qualify, international students must be in legal immigration status, have an academic GPA of 2.5 or higher, be enrolled as a full-time student at Gainesville State College and volunteer on campus 7 hours per week.
