As a
result of being named a
"University Center" of the
University System of
Georgia, Gainesville State
College enters into formal
agreements with four-year
colleges to offer more
opportunities for students to
stay in the area and receive a
reasonably priced, high quality, education.
Area
students wishing to complete a
four-year degree are able to
take courses
offered by other colleges on the
Gainesville State
College campus. Many students
have been able to complete a four-year degree without having to
move or engage
in a long commute.
As
the University Center develops,
attention will be given to
increasing the
number of undergraduate and
graduate programs offered
through the University
Center. At present, North
Georgia College & State
University is the lead four-year institution offering courses and degrees through the University Center.
Those
interested in applying to
programs offered through the
University Center must
apply to
and be
accepted by the appropriate
college or university.
Application material
and
catalogs for all programs are available through the University Center or on-line.
Students who
enroll in programs through the
University Center may be
eligible for state
and federal
financial aid. Aid is awarded
by the institution in which the
student is
enrolled, not by
Gainesville State
College.
Students
taking classes through the
University Center, whether full
or part-time, will have
full
access to all facilities and services at Gainesville State College as well as at
the
home institution.
