Testing Information

One of your first encounters with Gainesville State College may be for some kind of testing. The Testing Center administers many of the tests given on campus, including:

  • ACT - Information - this test is no longer administered.
  • Advanced Placement (AP) Test Information - Students who take (AP) tests in high school may submit official score reports for evaluation for Gainesville State College academic credit.  
  • CLEP Exams - Students who score high enough in these subject examinations will get credit for designated GC courses.
  • Exit Tests - Required to exit Learning Support classes.
  • Placement Test - COMPASS - Information and REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS.
  • Placement Test - COMPASS - Retesting Information
  • Regents' Test - Required for graduation from a University System of Georgia institution.
  • TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language.  The next test will be given on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.  The cost of the exam is $30.00.  You must register by appointment with the Director of Testing no later than 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2008.  In order to register, you must come to the Business Affairs Office in the Administration Building on the Gainesville Campus to pay the fee and receive a receipt during regular business hours.  You must bring the receipt to the Testing Center Office in the Dunlap/Mathis Building where you will be given your Admissions Ticket and test booklet.  If you have any questions, please email David Johnston, Director of Testing: djohnston@gsc.edu, or call the Testing Center:  678-717-3863.
