ACT
The Institutional ACT Test is no longer administered at
Gainesville State College because it is no longer "required" for college
admission.
The ACT Assessment—What is it?
The ACT Assessment or
"A-C-T" as it is commonly called, is a national college admission
examination that consists of tests in:
| English |
Mathematics |
| Reading |
Science Reasoning |
ACT results are accepted by
virtually all U.S. colleges and universities.
The ACT includes 215
multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes
to complete with breaks. Actual testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes.
The ACT Assessment test is
prepared according to the:
-
Standards for
Educational and Psychological Testing,
American Educational Research Association, American Psychological
Association, & National Council on Measurement in Education (1985).
-
Code of Professional
Responsibilities in Educational Measurement, National Council on
Measurement in Education (1995).
-
Code of Fair Testing
Practices in Education, Joint Committee on Testing Practices (1988).
Understanding Your Scores
To determine your
scores on each of the four ACT tests, we first count the number of questions
that you answered correctly. We do not deduct any points for incorrect answers
or for guessing incorrectly. We then convert your raw scores to scale
scores that have the same meaning for all forms of the tests. The scale scores
range from 1 (low) to 36 (high) for each of the four tests and for the
Composite. The Composite is the average of your four test scores, rounded to the
nearest whole number.
