Transfer FAQs

Why didn’t my course(s) transfer?

Transfer credit is usually awarded for courses that are completed with satisfactory grades in regionally accredited colleges. Such courses must generally correspond to the length, time and content of those offered in the curricula at Gainesville State College.

How long does it take for transfer credit to be posted?

Transfer credit will generally be posted within one week after an acceptance letter is received. This may take longer during periods following application deadlines.

How can I find out which classes will transfer before I submit an application?

Any courses that have been previously evaluated can be viewed on the Registrar’s Office website. Under “Quick Links” choose Transfer Equivalencies. If a course does not appear on this chart, it has no equivalent or has not been evaluated. New course evaluations will not be done until an official transcript is received that includes the new course.

Does GSC accept credit from technical colleges?

If a technical school was regionally accredited at the time you attended, courses are accepted that are equivalent to courses offered at GSC. To find out if a school is accredited go to http://www.sacs.org.

Why is my GPA not reflecting grades that I earned at a previous institution?

Your Gainesville State College GPA only includes courses taken at GSC. Courses taken at other institutions will not factor into your GPA.

My course did not transfer. Can I appeal this decision?

If you would like to appeal a course decision you will need to fax, mail, or e-mail the course description and/or syllabus for that course to the Registrar’s Office. These documents will be reviewed, and final approval may be required by the appropriate Academic Division Chair.
