SOAR (Student Orientation Advisement Registration)

New First-Time Freshmen 

(If you are transferring into GSC from another institution, a transient student, or returning to GSC this term, please click here for information appropriate to you).

IMPORTANT INFO - READ THIS FIRST

• ONLY ACCEPTED STUDENTS CAN REGISTER FOR SOAR.  Students who are required to take placement tests (as outlined in acceptance letters) must take placement tests prior to their scheduled SOAR session.  Students can register for a SOAR session after they sign up for placement tests.

• SOAR sessions as well as Academic Classes at the Oconee Campus fill up quickly, so register promptly!

• Because of space constraints students can not be added to a SOAR session that is at full capacity.

• ALL FIRST-TIME FRESHMAN are REQUIRED to attend a SOAR session

• Students who wish to attend classes at the Oconee Campus may attend SOAR at the Gainesville Campus.  Students are more likely to get the course needed by attending earlier SOAR sessions.

WHAT HAPPENS AT OCONEE SOAR SESSIONS?

Students (and one parent or guest) are oriented to getting started at Gainesville State College, such as:

• Student Success Strategies

• Student Life

• Financial Aid

• Campus Resources

• Banner Web

• Academic Advising

• Meeting with an advisor

• Registering for Classes

Accepted students can register online for a SOAR session.
