Game Room/Cyber Café Manager

The Office of Student Life at Gainesville State College is seeking applications for a full-time (40 hours per week) Game Room/Cyber Café Manager. The Game Room/Cyber Café Manager is a member of the Student Life Team and will be responsible for the daily operations of the student Game Room/Cyber Café located in the Student Center on the Gainesville Campus.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor student usage of the Game Room/Cyber Café  including: student sign-in and ID collection and return. 
  • Supervise student behavior and enforce Game Room/Cyber Café  policies. 
  • Supervise student assistant(s), including hiring, scheduling, and evaluating student staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in Game Room/Cyber Café space. 
  • Organize tournaments and other Game Room/Cyber Café  programming for students. 
  • Organize Student Advisory Board(s) to assist with creation, promotion and implementation of Game Room tournaments and other Game Room activities or programs.
  • Coordinate Game Room/Cyber Café marketing efforts, including editing the Game Room/Cyber Café portion of the Student Life website
  • Oversee Game Room/Cyber Café assessment
    • Track student participation in the Game Room and report usage and participation numbers each semester.
    • Coordinate needs and satisfaction assessment for the Game Room/Cyber Cafe
  • Oversee the Game Room budget, including planning expenditures for each fiscal year, tracking the budget, and developing new budget requests
  • Maintain equipment: 
    • Order supplies when necessary
    • Oversee maintenance of equipment
  • Assist with administrative responsibilities associated with the Office of Student Life including, but not limited to:
    • Serving as the main location for creation of student IDs during normal workday hours
    • Co-Curricular Transcript data entry
    • Assist with Office programs and events, including SOAR (Orientation program), Weeks of Welcome, Honors Day, and Spring Fling.
    • Monitoring the Office of Student Life Sound System during events
  • Attend and contribute to Office Staff meetings and Office staff retreats.
  • Participate in division-wide and college-wide professional development meetings and programs.
  • Assist with other duties associated with the Office of Student Life and/or Gainesville State College as assigned.

 

Hours:  

The Game Room is open during the fall, spring, and summer terms when classes and final exams are being held.  The Game Room Manager will work with the Director of Student Life to determine the operating hours for the facility. Hours will be established to meet the needs of students.  The Game Room hours will be established and publicized prior to the beginning of each semester.  When classes are not in session, the Game Room manager will work on other duties and projects associated with the Office of Student Life.

 

Do to the unique nature of the service to students provided by the Game Room, time off for annual leave will generally be limited to times when classes are not in session. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED, required
  • At least two-years of college credit, preferred
  • Experience in a college or university environment preferred
  • Enthusiasm for and belief in the importance of recreation to student growth and development during college
  • Ability to perform office management duties efficiently and accurately
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures as well as English language usage, spelling, and punctuation
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Dependability and responsibility
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Problem solving skills and initiative
  • Experience providing quality customer service

 

Computer Skills:

  • Working knowledge of database management and word processing. 
  • Ability to use the Internet and electronic mail system.
  • Ability to quickly learn other computer skills needed including:  co-curricular transcript program, ID system, and College website software.

 

Anticipated Hourly Rate:  $10.00 per hour.
