SEP Guidelines for using Continuing Education Courses

·         Courses taken through CE may be applied to the SEP

·         CE registration and discount policies for GSC employees apply. (see below)

·         Registration for CE courses is handled entirely through CE.  GSC employees should call CE the day before the class begins to see if there is space available, unless they wish to pay full tuition.

·         Certificates of completion, or a transcript of CE courses,  and a description of the course indicating how many hours it lasts should be submitted to the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Leadership as documentation to show that the course was completed.

Policy for Faculty and Staff Taking CE Courses

Job-Related Courses

 Full-time employees of Gainesville State College may take job-related courses at NO CHARGE through the Division of Continuing Education. Job-related courses include all supervisory/management courses, computer courses, and Spanish. The following provisions apply:

· Minimum enrollment must be met by participants paying full-price.

· Space must be available. Participants paying fees will have priority.

 Personal Development Courses

 Full-time employees of Gainesville State College may take personal development courses at 50% off the advertised registration fee. These courses include fitness, financial, and other generalized personal interest courses. The following provisions apply:

· Minimum enrollment must be met by participants paying full-price.

· Space must be available. Participants paying full fees will have priority.

 Exceptions

v  Due to the cost of delivering some programs, the following courses are not eligible for discount:

·       Pottery

·       Defensive Driving

·       Real Estate Salesperson’s Pre-licensing

·       Ed2Go, Gatlin, and other on-line courses

 Occasionally, when the course is priced so low as to not cover costs at the 50% rate, the full price will have to be charged.  Some course fees include a budget for supplies, such as scrap-booking and cooking. In these cases fees will need to be adjusted so that the employee covers the cost of supplies.

  Discounts and free classes are available to full-time GSC employees only.
