This year at Lula Elementary we have started a new program called Roots & Shoots. It is a volunteer program where parents, grandparents, friends, family and college students give one on one or small group attention to our children in all levels in all grades K-5. The volunteers work one hour with their designated class at Lula Elementary School. We have resource buckets provided by the teachers that contain instructional materials for the volunteers. The buckets have materials to help with reading, math, letters, numbers, sounds. Each volunteer spends a block of time with students during their hour as outlined in the instructions. The volunteers sign in and pick up their assigned class resource bucket in the library. Volunteers place the class necklace on and wait for the first student or students to report to the library.
