The Care Team
Gainesville State College is committed to maintaining a safe, supportive campus for all members of community. GSC, like campuses across the country, has a behavioral intervention or Care Team to respond to and support the increasing number of students who have significant mental health challenges and the students who initiate disruptive events. A primary goal of the Care Team is identifying and assisting students who are at risk. The team addresses two types of at-risk behavior: (1) self-destructive behavior or communication – statements or actions that suggest an individual is at risk of harming self, and (2) destructive behavior – statements or actions that suggest an individual is at risk of harming others.
Many students who need help don’t seek it immediately; when they do, they may confide in faculty or staff before seeking professional help. Faculty and staff, who have close contact with students over time, are uniquely well-suited to help identify students who are at risk and moving towards crisis. Also, students may be aware of friends or peers who appear to be at risk. The Care Team asks that faculty, staff, and students share concerns about individuals with the Team to maximize the well-being of all members of the campus community.

GENERAL GUIDELINES: REPORTING AND RESPONDING TO AT-RISK BEHAVIOR
To report at-risk behavior
Students who are developing problems often display a number of warning signs or “red flags” that suggest they are no longer functioning adequately. To report AT-RISK BEHAVIOR that is NOT an emergency, click the button below.

NOTE: If this is an emergency and there is an immediate threat, click
on the task bar of a GSC computer, call GSC Security, or dial 911.
Submissions through the reporting form are not constantly monitored; therefore, the reporting form is never to be used for emergencies.
