Gainesville, GA., September 19, 2012 – The 26th Annual Gainesville State College Alumni Golf Open Scheduled for Friday, October 12, 2012 at Chattahoochee Golf Club.
On Friday, October 12, Chattahoochee Golf Club will come to life with the fun and excitement of this annual event. Shotgun Start is at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. The game, which will be played Texas Shamble, will be followed by a reception at 3 p.m.
This annual event has become an important fund raising opportunity for the GSC Alumni Association and Foundation. During the 2011-12 academic year, The GSC Foundation provided $575,000 for student scholarships and enhanced academic programs at the College. Without the support that the Alumni Association and the Foundation receive from the community, this would not be possible.
The GSC Alumni Association is pleased to announce that Doug and Diane Magnus are serving as this year’s Honorary Chairs, and Conditioned Air Systems, Inc. (www.conditionedairsystems.com) is the Title Sponsor of this year’s Open.
Magnus, a Gainesville native and a 1965 graduate of South Hall High School, is the founder and president of Conditioned Air Systems, Inc. In 1967, Magnus was one of the first students to take classes at Gainesville Junior College. At that time, classes were held at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville. After graduating from Gainesville Junior College, in 1972, Magnus attended the University of Georgia for a year, served in the Air-Guard Reserves for six years, and opened Conditioned Air Systems, Inc. in 1982.
Other generous sponsors to date include America’s Home Place, American Proteins, American Security Shredding, BatesCarter, Lanier Federal Credit Union, Mar-Jac Poultry, Metro Appraisals, Inc., Milton Martin Toyota, Rushton & Company, Walters Management, Whitehead Die Casting and Hayes Chrysler Jeep Dodge, who will be offering a Hole-In-One opportunity with a chance to win a Dodge Dart II.
The Alumni Association is in the process of recruiting other sponsors for the event.
