Academic Improvement Plan
The Academic Advising
Center has implemented the Academic
Improvement Plan (AIP) for students
on Academic Probation and Suspension to
encourage academic success and persistence. All
students who go on Academic Probation or
Suspension are required by the Dean’s office to
meet with an Advisor in the Advising Center and
participate in the AIP. The AIP
is individually tailored to meet the specific
learning needs of each student. Based on the
learning outcomes of the AIP, participating
students develop:
-
Knowledge and use of campus
resources, including Faculty Office Hours,
Tutorial Services, Career Services,
Disability Services, Counseling Services,
Workshops, Campus Clubs and Organizations,
GSCE, among others.
-
Understanding of personal
strengths and weaknesses as they relate to
academic and life success.
-
Self-understanding of
barriers to success.
-
Encouragement of personal
goals and strengths ("Strengths-based
advising")
-
Development of a plan for
academic success.
-
Knowledge and use of the
Advising Center as a tool of a successful
student.
